When God does a work of love in our lives, we are made new in Christ. It is this work that gives Christ-followers what they need to believe in and follow Jesus.
God is committed to doing sinners good even when we don’t deserve it. He shows this kind of love for humanity by sending his Son Jesus to the pay the penalty for sins at the cross. When his love has had it’s full affect, it causes Christ-followers to love others in the same way.
Love without action is dead. Jesus secured God’s love for us through his action. To follow Jesus is to be a people who love through action.
The children of God know that they belong to him because they stick close to Jesus. They trust in Christ’s work and follow his example. By doing so they show that they are believers as they learn to live according to God’s ways.
God’s love sets us free from the temporary pleasures of this life by satisfying the deepest longings of our souls. We know that we have experienced God’s love when worldly pleasures are not longer appealing to us.
The Christian life is a call to the same radical, others focused, self-sacrificing love that Jesus demonstrated for us on the cross. It is the kind of love that will go out of its way to seek the well-being of another person, even if it’s inconvenient and undeserved.
God’s love for us produces faith in us that results in obedience from us. When we understand that God has freely accepted us in Christ, we can freely obey him because of Christ.
