Life comes with a wide variety of uncertainties, one of which is death. Through his resurrection, Jesus has overcome death for all who believe. Believers have hope in the gospel because death does not have the final word, Jesus does.
Jesus has given his church clear instructions about what it is to do. His people are to make disciples. To be the church is to participate in the work of disciple-making.
The church is the counter-cultural people of God who make God’s name great in the earth by participating in what he is doing to restore humanity to himself in Jesus Christ. Believers don’t go to church, we are the church.
Jesus Christ is the believer’s confidence in and before God. A reminder of who we are and what we have in Christ is just what we need when we find ourselves drifting away from the Lord. It is confidence in Christ’s work that makes it possible to live for God.

When God does a work of love in our lives, we are made new in Christ. It is this work that gives Christ-followers what they need to believe in and follow Jesus.
God is committed to doing sinners good even when we don’t deserve it. He shows this kind of love for humanity by sending his Son Jesus to the pay the penalty for sins at the cross. When his love has had it’s full affect, it causes Christ-followers to love others in the same way.
Love without action is dead. Jesus secured God’s love for us through his action. To follow Jesus is to be a people who love through action.
