Daniel takes a big shift in genre and tone in Chapter 7 marking the change from narrative to apocalytpic literature. Rather than stories, we are given visions and dreams of beasts and God’s divine council. Much of the language is steeped in imagery that is difficult to interpret for the lay person and even the lay pastor. So often we skip through these texts in sermons because they are so foreign to us, but what do they really mean?
